I learned a lot about Oura Sananikone's work as I had never heard of him before. He works in a ton of different mediums and today he showed pictures of murals, paintings, sculpted toys, and comics. His toys were really interesting and detailed, an art form I had never considered before. I loved how he decorated the packaging too so that it was all his art. His style was very distinct but also fluid as I thought his murals looked different from his comic illustrations. I really identified with his "just do it" mindset when painting as I also struggle to plan things out. The comics were especially interesting because I have been studying comics in Pop Culture and actually had a field trip the same day to go look at more comics. After both the trip and lecture I'm starting to think comics are an underappreciated art form. I really wish Oura Sananikone went into more detail on what made him want to pursue art, the meanings behind his pieces, and his journey to get ot where he is now.
