Head: I think I'm interested in exploring the theme of connection. While not necessarily explored in my art before, I have always been drawn to creating people. I want to explore our connection with people across time, like at what point do we stop identifying with people (1800s families vs WWII stories), and across familiarity. I will cry at videos I see of happy strangers on the internet, but I know not everyone does. I also get upset when I read about the horrors of WWII, but at what point do people stop feeling a connection with humans before us. Similarly I can identify with fictional characters, people that don't even exist.
A few ideas I have of exploring this is buildings, and the saying "if walls could talk." I love the idea of peeling back the layers of paint on a wall to see all the lives lived before. Its interesting to me the number of lives lived in the same communal spaces. 7% of all humans who have ever lived are alive today.
I feel like there are a lot of ways to go with this thought process, even connecting back to today with technology and the new ways of human interactions.
Heart: I really loved a multi-media, 3D kind of approach. I want to do a combination of drawing and using paper. I think it would be really interesting to connect my theme to the layering/peeling of paper. I also think I could use string to create something sculptural to model space and time. I would enjoy any way of layering different mediums.
