Process Post: Project #8

This quarter I want to combine my figure drawings and sculptures. I think this can relate to figuring out my content too, as it fits into the theme of structured vs organic. People make architecture too so it all sort of relates. Right now I have a basic base built. Last time I explored painting the base like an abstract painting, but I don't think I liked it. It was too distracting to the shape of the sculpture. Part of me really wants to just draw the figure or paint realistic things onto the base, but I'm not sure how that will work. I'll probably keep my realistic work separate and try it again over the summer. For this piece I'm using a wire frame for the torso and am going to rely on fabric to give it the shape. I'm thinking it will kind of look like a dress that gets pulled upward towards the post. I also have string I want to use again, and I think I need to make a door. I really like how a door gives it scale, as I always imagine these as much bigger structures.
