Honestly I found this experience both inspiring and intimidating. The quality of both the artistic skills and intent was surprising. The main impression I got was that the most successful works did not come from a structured school assignment and instead stemmed from the creative ideas of the students. Using mixed media really made certain pieces stand out. I also noticed the majority of the works featured the figure or the face. Interesting angles and shadows really brought meanings to life. One of my favorites was "prisoner of conscience" by Nuala Woodall. It wasn't a photograph but it could have been successful as one. The details, expression, negative space, and pattern of the light made it stand out. I also really like the title and the meaning it implies. Another artist I noticed was will vinson as his name was not capitalized on anything (idk how but I found three different works by him without looking). At first I thought it was interesting that his name wasn't capitalized like he didn't care but his work was good, then I just admired his style. One of his works was a gold key, which was a self portrait of him pointing his finger with an angry expression. All around the sides of the pages he had doodled. The contrast of the detailed drawing with the sketches caught my eye, like his lowercase name. While I just mentioned two artists, many other works caught my attention. I definitely left the building wanting to work on my own art.
